Located on a 200 acre campus that
includes the Georgia Dome and Centennial Olympic Park, the Georgia
World Congress Center is one of the nation’s largest venues for
trade shows and other special events. Forms+Surfaces’ ability to
offer large-scale custom fabrications as well as innovative
standard products made us an ideal resource for the Center’s 1.4
million square foot Building C expansion.
Our contribution to the project starts outdoors with a group of
monumental custom light towers. Standing 50 feet tall, the towers
were fabricated from structural steel with textured acrylic
diffuser panels. Metal halide floodlights mounted on the towers
provide dramatic illumination for a landscaped plaza whose
amenities include Forms+Surfaces’ durable
stainless steel Universal litter receptacles. Sharing the towers’
same basic design and construction, a colonnade of illuminated
pylons marks a grand entrance to the new building.
Moving indoors, Forms+Surfaces was asked to provide custom
lighting of an appropriate scale for Building C’s vast entrance
lobby. We met the challenge with spectacular 14 foot high ceiling
pendants and matching wall-mount sconces. Made from welded
aluminum with acrylic diffusers, pendants and sconces both use a
combination of high-output fluorescent and metal halide light
sources.
Rugged CabForms Series 1000 elevator interiors complete
this
project that showcases the enduring value and unforgettable impact
Forms+Surfaces products make possible.
