Connected by walkways to the adjacent
MARTA rapid transit station, BellSouth’s Midtown Center was designed
to encourage use of public transportation by the company’s large
downtown workforce. Forms+Surfaces fabricated custom exterior lighting
as well as a series of unique elevator command kiosks for this
pedestrian-friendly office complex.
Superbly crafted from stainless steel and acrylic, the exterior
sconces offer a contemporary interpretation of classic art deco
design. Bringing the same theme indoors, the elevator kiosks were made
using the same materials and mounted on square granite columns. The
innovative “destination elevators” allow workers to pre-program their
desired floor at the distinctive kiosk before entering the cab itself.
The high-tech system remembers each rider’s destination and optimizes
service accordingly. Beautiful but also extremely practical,
Forms+Surfaces products help make Midtown Center a visually
stimulating environment where efficient transit and communication are
