Designed to provide family-focused care in
a welcoming environment, “The Birthplace” at Gaston Memorial Hospital
is one of the largest and most innovative maternity centers in the
country. Forms+Surfaces’ Silhouette railing system was chosen for the
facility’s beautiful, sunlight-filled atrium.
Specified in stainless steel with glass infills, the Silhouette
railing complements the metal columns and expansive floor-to-ceiling
windows that encircle the atrium rotunda. The installation included
stair rail with offset ADA handrail as well as a guardrail surrounding
the second floor mezzanine level. A radiused hardwood top rail was
used throughout, adding even more warmth and visual richness to a
space that celebrates one of life’s most joyous events.
