Bridge Benches with Ipé wood slat seats

Part of the larger Kierland master-planned community, Kierland Commons is a 38-acre “Main Street” development that incorporates retail, entertainment, office, restaurant and residential components. Forms+Surfaces Bridge benches were used to enhance sidewalk and storefront areas as well as the lushly landscaped central plaza.

Bridge bench seats were specified in Ipé, a beautiful and remarkably durable hardwood that carries the USDA Forest Products Laboratory’s highest rating for decay and insect resistance. Kierland has chosen to let the Ipé weather naturally, creating an attractive silver-gray patina appropriate to this Southwestern setting.
