The Victorian exterior of the new Cambridge Waterworks belies the modern, high-efficiency treatment plant operating within its brick walls. Serving also as a department headquarters and educational resource, the building’s designers wanted to create a contemporary interior that pays tribute to the vintage structure this new plant has replaced.

Forms+Surfaces was asked to provide stainless steel wall panels, column covers and a unique waterfall fountain. Using a chute made from our Random finish stainless steel, the fountain incorporates Greek columns and pediment salvaged from the previous facility. Linking past and present, Forms+Surfaces’ products have helped turn a technical public works project into an architectural focal point beloved by the surrounding community.
