The Beachwalk is an extensive paved public
access trail that winds its way up Miami Beach’s eastern shore. The
pedestrian lighting used for this high-profile project had to meet the
varying criteria of a tropical environment that is both a crowded
tourist destination and a highly sensitive sea turtle habitat.
Forms+Surfaces met all these requirements with our amazing Triada
lighting. Constructed of rustproof aluminum, Triada is engineered to
withstand salt spray and the extreme winds to which the area is
regularly subjected. Aesthetically, Triada’s modern interpretation of
nautical themes blends perfectly with other design elements of the
project. To safeguard the adjoining turtle nesting areas, the Triada
fixtures were fitted with a special directional shield to protect
hatchlings who could be disoriented by extraneous light while making
their perilous trek to the sea.
The Triada installation at Miami Beach has proven to be a great
success from which everyone has benefited: the city, its many visitors
and the precious marine species with whom the local environment is
shared.
