Boardwalk Bench: Giving Back to its Hometown

Forms+Surfaces launched its new Boardwalk Bench, made of slats reclaimed from portions of the historic Atlantic City Boardwalk that had been replaced as part of ongoing renovations, just weeks before Hurricane Sandy destroyed some sections of the famed boardwalk and caused devastation all along the East Coast.

While we were shocked to see the boardwalk essentially wash away, our hearts especially went out to the many people who lost so much in the storm.

Several members of our sales team live and work in the New York/New Jersey area, and witnessed the devastation first hand. We also work with a number of architectural firms and landscape architects affected by the storm who had to shut down their businesses until power was restored, while also dealing with the impact on their own homes and families.

For all these reasons, we want to help. So, Forms+Surfaces will donate 5% of the proceeds from every Boardwalk Bench sold between November 1st and April 30th to the American Red Cross’ disaster relief efforts.

We like the idea that the bench that was born in Atlantic City can give something back.

And even if you don’t purchase a Boardwalk Bench, please consider donating something, whether it is your time, money, food, clothes or even blood, to help those impacted by the storm. Then this Thanksgiving, we can all be thankful that we came together to help friends in need.
