Smart Seating: Tangent & Apex Enhance Your Outdoor Environment

Whether you need a bench, rail seating, or a table ensemble, Forms+Surfaces has some exciting new products that bring together innovative design and real-world versatility to fit a wide range of settings.

We are pleased to introduce Tangent Rail Seating and the new Apex family of products, launching with Apex Bench and Apex Table Ensemble.

Tangent Rail Seating

Tangent Rail Seating brings together a clean aesthetic, the sleekness and strength of die-cast aluminum, and a wide range of seat options. Available with one to five backed seats with optional intermediate armrests, the variety of seat materials makes Tangent truly stand out. Choices include:

• Extruded aluminum slats – available in a range of powdercoat colors
• FSC 100% Ipé hardwood slats – offering durability and a unique look for rail seating
• Stainless steel seat pans – available in Seastone, Sandstone, Satin finish or powdercoated. Seat pans can be solid, or have one of three perforation patterns: Fade, Micro and Stitch.

This wealth of options allows you to use different seat styles, materials or patterns throughout a single project, providing some design variation while ensuring a cohesive theme.

Like all of our products, Tangent Rail Seating was designed with strength and durability in mind. All of the castings are die-cast aluminum and the stainless steel seat pans are available in our High Durability finishes for a work-hardened surface with enhanced resistance to scratches, abrasion and wear. The rail and legs are extruded aluminum with a distinct hexagonal profile.

Tangent also offers a clean look with a minimal footprint. The open structure below the rail allows for ample legroom, makes it easy to clean around, and has the security advantage of a clear view of any items left behind.

While Tangent Rail Seating will be a natural fit for airports and other transit stations, it will also perform beautifully in corporate campuses, healthcare facilities, colleges and universities and other public spaces.

Apex Bench

Simple and elegant, Apex Bench is at home in any setting. Built on a solid frame of cast aluminum with seat slats in FSC 100% Jatoba hardwood and aluminum pinstripe details, the Apex Bench has a clean, modern look.

The I-beam inspired legs take up a minimum amount of space, making the bench easy to clean around, and providing a clear and secure view of the area under the bench.

Configurable to fit specific project needs, this 72” backless bench can stand alone or be linked end to end. Add-on sections utilize a shared leg, providing a cost savings over separate standalone benches. 

Apex Table Ensemble

The Apex Table Ensemble, which comfortably seats up to eight people, features a table size and shape not commonly found in the commercial marketplace: a large, 48” square.

The FSC 100% Jatoba hardwood table, with its aluminum pinstripe detail, has an unobtrusive pedestal base – offering ample room for dining and gathering in comfort. Coordinating 40"-long benches feature the same pinstripe detail as the table and the stand-alone Apex Bench.

The Apex Table Ensemble can be configured according to seating needs. Customers can order 2, 3, or 4 benches with the table, which makes it easy to address ADA concerns: wheelchairs can simply pull in to an open side.

All frames are cast aluminum and are available in a variety of powdercoat colors. An umbrella hole and sleeve may also be specified. The Apex Table Ensemble must be surface mounted.

The Apex line will be expanding to include a litter and recycling receptacle and pedestrian and bollard lighting, so stay tuned as this new family grows.
