Constitution Wharf

Project Overview

Located in Boston’s historic Charlestown district, Constitution Wharf is comprised of three waterfront office buildings totaling 180,700 sq ft. Situated along the Boston Harborwalk, the property is adjacent to the USS Constitution Museum and a variety of restaurants, hotels, and public transportation stops.

Recently, a major repositioning initiative brought comprehensive upgrades to multiple facets of the site. Landscape improvements included public art, outdoor seating, interactive event space, and more.

Forms+Surfaces worked with IBI Placemaking, Perkins & Will and others involved with the project to provide site furniture and lighting that maintained a consistent aesthetic while delivering on key requirements: corrosion resistance, durability, and construction robust enough to weather the extreme conditions of the Boston Harbor. The resulting outdoor spaces have a modern design and feel, with materials—stainless steel, white powdercoat and hardwoods—reflecting the thematic characteristics of the masts and boat decks at the nearby marina.
