Jefferson Street / Gateway to Heritage Project

Project Overview

Jefferson Street / Gateway to Heritage Plaza was the pilot beautification project for the Tennessee Department of Transportation's Roadscapes program. The collaboration between Nashville city officials and the community utilized the I-40 insterstate underpass to create a pedestrian plaza that celebrates Nashville's African American history.

Forms+Surfaces created custom column covers to highlight images of important African American historical figures. The columns featured our Scape screen pattern in stainless steel, with powdercoated aluminum and stainless steel panels providing additional design elements.
