The Knitting Mills

Project Overview

Dating back to 1896, the Berkshire Knitting Mills was home to the largest full-fashioned knitting mill in the world. The site was later converted into the popular Vanity Fair Outlet Center, and over the last several years, has been transformed again into a center for business and technology. It’s now home to UGI Energy Services, Teleflex International, and a new Drexel University College of Medicine branch.

Stuart + Associates was engaged as the campus was being re-imagined. Their goal: update the social spaces for modern-day work activities while paying homage to the site’s historic vision and materials. Reaching out to F+S, the landscape architect was drawn to the traditional styling of the Cordia Bench and found our Clay Texture powdercoat for the Tangent Table Ensembles to be a ready match for the site’s red brick buildings.
